Back to the Basics: Event Planning Survival Guide

The life of an event planner is fast-paced, rewarding, and pretty chaotic at times. In this blog post of my new series Back to the Basics: Event Planning Survival Guide, I aim to share my tips and tricks on surviving this life.

Welcome Chaos

One of the slogan's of event planning is organized chaos. Fro unexpected roadblocks to those last-minute changes, learning to embrace and becoming prepared for the unexpected is the natural state of the job. Flexibility is crucial; get in the right mindset to be able to piot plan at any moment in the process, and remember, cool, calm, and collected is the way to approach any situation!

Be a Master of Time

Not only in day-to-day life, but also in event planning, time is truly of the essence. Establishing timelines, prioritizing assignments, and setting achievable timelines is the key to managing time. Some events take up to a year, sometimes over, to plan. That may seem like a long time, but before you know it, the big day will be here, and you want to be as prepared as possible!

Build Lasting Relationships Rapport

In the event planning world, building and maintaining lasting relationships is one of the keys to success. Having a strong vendor list to reference and recommend to clients not only helps the vendors, but also yourself. You never know what opportunities may come from knowing someone, or knowing someone who knows someone!

Practice Self-Care

Something that I believe everyone should practice, whether you are an event planner or not, is self-care. In the event planning world, there are a lot of moving parts, a lot of tension to execute plans, and always something that comes up that you may not have thought of. Prioritizing your health to avoid burnout is most definitely a necessity to perform at your best!
